Mike Devine​​ (before 2022)

Master Chief Petty Officer Michael P. Devine was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and graduated from Hamden High School in 1969, The Culinary Institute of America in 1971 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August of 1971.
 
I received recruit training at Great Lakes, Illinois. Where my first duty station was at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California with Attack Squadron 27 (VA-27) and Attack Squadron 155 (VA-155), deploying onboard USS Enterprise (CVAN-65) and USS Oriskany (CV-43) respectively. Upon reenlistment I was stationed at Naval Submarine Base, New London, Connecticut and attended Enlisted Submarine School. My first Submarine assignment upon graduation was USS Andrew Jackson (SSBN 619), where I  completed Submarine qualification and earned a Submarine Warfare insignia “Dolphins”. Other assignments include USS Florida (SSBN 728), USS Ohio (SSBN 726), Commander Submarine Squadron Seventeen (CSS-17) and USS Alaska (SSBN 732).
 
I was then assigned as Chief of the Boat (COB) on board (The Fighting Ship) USS Alabama (SSBN 731). Upon completion of this tour I was assigned to Staff Submarine Force U.S. Pacific Fleet as Force Career Counselor and assumed the duties as Staff Command Master Chief.  I then served as Command Master Chief on the staff of Commander Submarine Squadron Twenty-Two (CSS-22) in LaMaddalena, Sardinia, Italy.
 
I completed thirty-one years of Naval Service while attached to the staff of Commander Navy Region Hawaii in July of 2002.
 
My personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Award (three awards), Enlisted Submarine Insignia (Dolphins) and SSBN Strategic Deterrent Patrol Pin/Gold (26 patrols).
 
Upon retirement from the Navy, I became a gentleman golfer at The Home Course in DuPont, Washington.
