May 2019 - Comments after the 50th Reunion
Ray Vece - Great time at the Glenwood yesterday. Looking forward to tonight.
Michael Arnone - Thank you Lenny Goldberg for a great time at Lenny & Joe's. Much thanks to Jim Ortel and Howie Kegeles for joining me at Alling Memorial this morning for an enjoyable round of golf. And now the main event!
Also ... the committee provided us with such an awesome weekend. One I will cherish for the rest of my life. 👍👍
Dean Smith - Hi All, It's 10:00pm I just got home. I'm hyped, I've got to unwind. The Glenwood was fine. The school tour was very enjoyable. The class of '69 dinner and party were an A#1 class event. I liked the table center pieces and the "programs" were wonderful. I like many of you saw a lot of friends. My sincere THANKS TO THE REUNION COMMITTEE. Best Regards.
Chris Costanzo - Thanks for all the work the committee did organizing the 50th class reunion. I had a great time.
Jim Greenfield - Wonderful job guys. Great to see everyone. Should have made the name tags bigger! We’re old people. Thanks again.
Eydie Hahn Cutler - The class of 1969 celebrated their 50th Reunion this past weekend. Not the traditional dinner/dance!!!!!
The organizers turned it into a three day extravaganza.
Lunch on Friday May 3, was a get together at the iconic Glenwood's for their famous burnt hot dogs.
Dinner was at Lenny & Joes in New Haven. The Lenny is our own Lenny Goldberg, a member of our class.
A tour of Hamden High School was arranged on Saturday morning, for our class to see the amazing renovations and improvements to our school. We quickly realized this was NOT the school we remembered.
Saturday night was the Dinner/Dance held at the Best Western in North Haven. The food was a delicious buffet. There was a DJ to spin the music of our youth. Those of us who could still dance got up and showed us what they got!
But, it didn't end there! On Sunday there was a breakfast, followed by golf or if you didn't play, there was a convoy to the casino's.
I would like to thank the many members of the committee who spent countless hours preparing and planning for this event.
I would also like to say that we are a pretty youthful crowd.
We can still party with the best of them!!!!!!!

April 27, 2019 - Bud Bassoli - Well ... the 50th Reunion is almost here. The committee has been preparing for 19 months. Our mailings reached out to 450 addresses with 250 responses. We are looking forward to the gatherings and reuniting with the 125 alumni that will be attending.
March 12, 2019 - Susan Hitchcock Settle - Are there any friends of Bill W. attending the reunion? If so please contact me.. at
240-298-7198
October 25, 2018 - Peter Kupfer: Greetings from San Francisco!!! I just discovered this website and thought I would post a note to say hello to my former classmates. My name was Peter Cooper in HS, but I reclaimed my father’s original name, Kupfer, when I moved to San Francisco 28 years ago. I have been living in SF ever since. I was amused to see in the memories section of this website a reference to the Anti-Prom, a/k/a MORP. I was proud to be one of the organizers of that event — along with Jean Maunder and a few others — and it was one of the most memorable events of my HS career. If memory serves, I think our wonderful English teacher Neil Topitzer was one of the chaperones. I am planning to attend the 50th reunion and look forward to reconnecting with some of my old classmates. Until then … Peter

August 1968 Reminiscing ...
What were you doing in August 1968 right before the start of our Senior year?
August 21, 2018 - Brenda Gerosa Beal: It's been almost 50 years! Who can remember??? I'll take a guess....I was likely working at the Villager/Ladybug shop on Chapel St in New Haven as I did for years to save for college. I did waitress at the New Haven Country Club with Joe Traester but that may have been after freshman year college as we were, want to quote lines from Firesign Theatre albums. Also probably planning what to wear the first day of school!! Too early in the season for kilts and Gamer sweaters!
August 21, 2018 - Jenny Hunter Miranda: The summer of '68 I was working at Baskin Robbins at the Hamden Plaza, swam at Hammonasset Beach, and took a vacation to Maine with my parents and brother (a HHS grad). I poured over guide books about various colleges, and sent out applications. When I got an acceptance letter from my favorite college, it was one of the happiest days of my life! While driving on Mix Ave. to the Hamden Plaza that day, I remembered thinking that if anyone saw me with a big smile on my face, they would wonder about me! I was ecstatic about the upcoming senior year, and the imminent transition into the college lifestyle following graduation.
August 16, 2018 - Sharon Esposito Dlesk: I was working at Friendly’s ice cream at the Plaza..... Eating too much ice cream! Lol .... I was a newbie to Hamden... arrived as a junior in high school.
August 16, 2018 - Sharon Beauton Moran: I was working at the New Haven Country Club in the pool snack bar eating too many brownies!!
August 14, 2018 - Gary Moler: Summer of ’68: I built a 500 Watt amateur radio ((WA1BYF) transmitter in my attic, listening to Beatle songs on WABC/NY. Also, made a Super8 movie with Armand Morgan, Peter Tallerico, and Mike Ferrucci.
August 13, 2018 - Daniel Harris: I remember feeling like a family starting to go through a divorce. I knew that soon each of us would go our separate way, and we would never be together again like the "family' we had been. We had been together almost every day for 3 years at HHS, and some had grown up together, and even went to the same grade school and middle school. But now each of us was going to some college, or the military, or into some business. I think one or two of the hockey players were drafted by the Boston Bruins farm team. A lot of fellow classmates planned to attend colleges in the northeast, so could still see each other on weekends or summers. But I was going to college in the Chicago area, and knew I would probably see very few of my friends and fellow soccer players again. I am reminded of the song that came out in 1973 when I graduated from college, but definitely applies to HHS. "We May Never Pass This Way Again", by Seals and Crofts.
August 12, 2018 - Bud Bassoli: the Summer of Music continued with jamming with Mike Santillo (HHS '68), Roy Franco & Ron Gagliardi (both formerly with The East Coast Sounds), hanging out with Bob Dempsey & Ray Peters, and of course preparing the college resumes & applications. I also began my long 45 years of working with computers as a Computer Operator for the Town of Hamden Educational Computer Center located next to the Small Theater at the High School. So many emotions were going on knowing that this was going to be the end of seeing a lot of HS friends as we prepared for our future.

January 1, 2018 - Bud Bassoli: Happy New Year and hoping it is a great one for all.

What were you doing in August 1967 right before the start of our Junior year?
What were you doing in August 1967 right before the start of our Junior year?
August 18, 2017 - Michael Arnone: I was playing pony league hardball for Prisco Electric and working part time at Caldor.
August 13, 2017 - Brenda Gerosa Beal: Likely working at the Villager/Ladybug dress shop on Chapel Street in New Haven.
August 10, 2017 - Stu Cohen: Summer of 67, I went to a few ball games with Tek Pontecorvo, Albert Deangeles, Bob Maggio, Joel Kaletsky, Harvey Slauson and Dave Vaiuso.
August 8, 2017 - Bob Dempsey: I was dating Barbara Harris and visiting her Shepard Ave. home. Hanging out with Bud Bassoli and playing Babe Ruth baseball. I was 15, could not drive or work. Listening to Sgt. Peppers, a very hot album. It was a good summer overall.
August 8, 2017 - Cynthia Bardo Burnell: August '67 I was enjoying beach life with my family here on the coast of Maine, and hoping that the month didn't pass too quickly. As always, am sad to approach the end of summer.
August 8, 2017 - Helen Helen Jacobs: In August 1967 I had just started dating Bob Morrissey, going with him to CYO dances, concerts and Hammonasset beach. Also going to HHS Twirling practice several nights a week and working at Rainbow Cleaners. It was a wonderful summer!
August 7, 2017 - Craig Carlson: Went to Expo '67 in Montreal with my folks. What 15 year-old wouldn't want to spend a week at a fair and then a hotel room with his parents? I couldn't wait to get back home to my friends! Wish I could do that one over :)
August 7. 2017 - Eydie Hahn: I was dating Phil Shea. Taking the defensive driving course at the High School in a little red beat up station wagon with Mr. Hjerpe.
August 7, 2017 - Mike Devine: August 1967 I was golfing at Meadowbrook Golf Course just about every day. I'm going to hit enter now and leave for The Home Course, Dupont, Washington @ 98327.
August 7, 2017 - Andrew Carrano: I can't tell you what I was doing last week, never mind in August 1967. I can tell you only one thing for sure, I was probably spending most of my time working at Shop Rite.
August 6, 2017 - Bud Bassoli: It was the "Summer of Music" ... Listening to Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band took up a lot of the summer. I was in a band called the Cult with Mat Salerno, Bob Feen, and Dave Creegan from the Pine Rock Area, and in August Rick King (Mayflower) and Bob Dineen (Eastern Alliance) from West Haven joined the group to form the Gordian Knot. We performed at a few college fraternity mixers and Paradise park. Did a lot of friend stuff with Bob Dempsey, Robin Scheyer and Joan Dempsey. My dad Hank, a custodian at Hamden HS got me a summer job cleaning up, cutting the grass and working in the boiler room ... it was a good lesson on working, and I so value the time I had with my dad there.

- Lew Wardell: I remembered what I was doing in the summer of 1966 while digitizing old photos. I went around Cape Cod and Eastern Long island in my uncle's boat. One engine caught fire in Greenport, NY and we spent a week there and finally found a replacement in Morris Cove. Trying to cross the Sound to get there, it was so rough the other engine cavitated and seized. We luckily found a tow. How could I forget!
- AnnMarie DeMaio: I was working with my dad at the Trio Rubber company sewing bibs. Yes. Child labor!!! I was also dating and spending time with Bobby Turner.
- Dean Smith: August 10th 1966 was the day I got my driver's license on my second try. I was one of the early drivers in our class due to repeating second grade. A few days later I drove up to Wellfleet Cape Cod for family vacation, in a '63 Ford country squire station wagon black, no A/C in those days. Electric tube radios, radios had to warm up for a while, couldn't play the radio without the engine running or you'd drain the battery. Good local radio stations WAVZ, WNHC, WICC, WPOP, WDRC and at the time WBZ in Boston covering RI and the Cape.
- Brenda Gerosa-Beal: Working at the Villager boutique on Chapel St in New Haven......I think!
- Martha DeWick: In July and August of 1966 I was working part time at the Mt. Carmel Public Library.
- Mike Devince: July/August 1966 was spent at Meadowbrook Golf Course. Just about every single day. Two (2) weeks ago I snagged a 3rd place net (no I didn't sandbag it) in a Senior Golf Tournament, thankfully some things never change. Stay Calm and Golf On Hamden High School "69".
- Craig Carlson: Cooling off at our "secret swimming hole" on Mill River (it's still there, still great and still a secret!). Filling in the missing issues in my Spiderman and Fantastic Four collections. Playing the Beatles Paperback Writer/Rain 45 to death. Trying to master barre chords on the guitar!
- Susan Hitchcock Settle: I was hanging out with my boyfriend, Gary Whitney, playing guitar. He was from Westville. We often played with a group of his best friends, including Michael Bolton. Before Michael was famous! His real last name is Bolotin. His brother Orin played guitar with us too!!
- Bud Bassoli: I was hanging out with my best friend Bob Dempsey and Ray Peters; listening to the Pet Sounds album by the Beach Boys; going to Paradise Park late Saturday afternoons to hear local bands play; I was learning to play the guitar and in a local band called "The Cult"; going to Wharton Brook to swim; and playing Babe Ruth baseball on the Kiwanis Club team.
July 18, 2016 - Valerie Newton Comeau - Hi everyone! I am retired from the working world and recently moved to a house in the country. Enjoying the wildlife. Hope you are having a relaxing Summer.
July 17, 2016 - Bud Bassoli - Hey everyone!!! Hope all is well ... I retired from my full time job at AT&T in 2008, and started my own consulting finance and website business in Connecticut, and so far $o good. My 2 sons live close by and they each have a child. A lot of traveling in the USA and more planned in the near future. I hope to hear from more alumni as we ramp up for the reunion.
October 1, 2015 - Susan Hitchcock Settle - Hey Guys, It's been a long time. I made it back to CT last Feb. First time in 17 years. Retired and living in NC. Life is incredible. I finally met and married my soul mate. Sixteen years ago. I am looking for Abby Palmer, does anyone know where she is? Planning on the 50th. Peace and Blessings.
September 30,2015 - Mike Arnone - Just recently came across this site. I am retired (34 years with United Illuminating of New Haven) I now live with my wife in Calabash NC. I love it here.
November 26, 2014 - Lew Wardell - So sorry I missed the reunion. We've gone to the Carolina coast since 1975 in October to fish, and this year was no exception. Problem was - no fish this year. Connecticut would have been far preferable. I recently got in contact with Pete Tallerico - we'll start preparing for the 50th. Everyone in the photos looked fantastic! Thanks to everyone for keeping this together.
October 27, 2014 - Anita Symington - Boohoo, distance made it impossible for me to come back for this reunion however it helps to keep up with friends through the Mighty Metropolis and facebook and classmates. I wish you all had a wonderful time and look forward to seeing postings of pictures too. I have been looking for a classmate I have yet to find, so if there is any news on her, Patty White I would love to be notified. Again, have fun kids!!!!!
October 26, 2014 - Brenda Gerosa-Beal - A big thank you and kudos to the core committee for planning and organizing last night's 45th reunion. Bob and I had a fabulous time and it was fun catching up with all those who attended, that being a tiny portion of our class!! The night was comfortable and casual and Eddie's jokes were as bad as ever!! Hoping that more will attend our 50th. Pass the word! And don't forget, the website is our one common source of info, so consider a donation to our very own internet guru Buddy Bassoli to keep it up and running. Again, it was great seeing everyone! God willing and the creek don't rise we'll do this again in 2019!
October 6, 2014 - Cynthia Bardo Burnell - Will be thinking of you all at the 41st. Distance and other complications prevent me from coming to share with classmates. Look forward to seeing some photos. Haven't been back to Hamden in several years. I imagine more formally recognized landmarks have changed. Blessings to you all!
August 14, 2014 - Nancy Rasmussen - Someone's efforts to track down "lost" classmates resulted in my just receiving a postcard about the 45th reunion. My twin sister Jane and I, and Ellen Ryerson (a friend who lived with our family), were in Hamden for only our senior year, but we enjoyed our time at HHS. Jane, Ellen and I returned to California for college, and Jane and I also went to law school here. I retired in 2011 after a legal career with the State of California. Jane was an international human rights lawyer who, sadly, died in 2012 from breast cancer. Ellen has lived in Seattle since grad school there in social welfare.
July 25, 2014 - Gary Lee Anderson - I live in Boston and have missed a few reunions, I want to be there for this one. I've heard we've lost our share of fellow class members.
July 22, 2014 - Mike Devine - Made a trip to Hamden last week. Glenwood dog is still "King", onion rings are pretty good. Whitney donut up the street was awesome. Brownstone House down the street was still a great breakfast. Venice Bakery insane good and they will ship me some freselles. Pepe's still awesome, get down to Ferraro's Market on Grand Ave. It's up nearer to State St. Marianna's bakery in Meriden is fantastic. Baba au Rum was special and they make a canolli that is really good.. Make a trip to The Bronx ASAP. Arthur Avenue is a lot of fun. It's right around the corner from Belmont Ave where Dion got the name for his great group Dion and the Belmonts. It was a Gastronomic tour de Force. Sadly and it's just my opinion but to me the landscaping out front of HHS look terrible. I went by the school numerous times and the building is majestic for it's memories alone but the street look is lacking. let me know if you agree or even if I'm out to lunch on this. Thanks. Slainte.
May 20, 2014 - Dean Smith - Hello HHS 69 classmates, Dean Smith here, I have major back problems. Currently home

The importance of this fact is we weren't very good in gymnastics back then! Lol. I love to find some pictures of me either in our year book or from the events I placed in. I've never had any proof to show my wife or children! Your help would be greatly appreciated!! Please contact me at sellfun6988@aol.com.
September 26, 2012 - Dana Downes - Hi all, 61 and still going strong. I've retired from nursing and am trying to keep up with 19 grandchildren. All but 4 live near by. 2 of the other 4 are with me and my daughter at Disney World for a week. Exhausting. They are 4 and 6 and have more energy then I ever thought possible.
Lew Wardell - Unfortunately, (or not, actually) Sally and I retired this year and are spending October at the beach. I'll keep my eyes peeled for another opportunity to come north, though. I appreciate your interest and energy in keeping the website going. I'm performing in four bands now that I have more time. Here's a photo of one of them - see if you can figure out which one is me.

September 9, 2012 - Dean Smith - Hi HHS Class of '69, I'm on my 1st "PC", an iPad 2, 1yr+ old. It's a lot of fun. Not much new, I've gained a lot of weight. No more eyeglasses for now, sight's ok. Not black rimmed glasses in '69 yearbook. I'd like to hear from old friends through "contact us". Maybe more later.
June 25, 2012 - Gary Moler - BTW, I met up with Ben Kudon in Kyoto (Japan) in May... we had lunch together at a pizza restaurant along a small canal in the city. Unfortunately, I can't find any photos of the encounter, but I think he took lots of photos then... especially of little geisha girls strolling down the streets with parasols... as usual, I had to tear him away.
June 24, 2012 - Peggi Ferguson - Hi - I am just writing to let people know of some sad news. You may remember my South African AFS sister - Jenny O'Brien. Her married name is Jenny Rands. She just wrote to me this morning to say that her husband - the actor Jonathan Rands - died suddenly in April following heart surgery. I only found out this morning when she emailed me. She says she's been in a state of denial - but has recently started working again. Their son Michael lives in Japan.
http://www.timeslive.co.za/entertainment/2011/04/30/actor-jonathan-rands-dies-at-57
I know Jenny made many friends while at HH and she has many fond memories of her time in the States. If anyone would like to contact her - please let me know (click Contact Us) and I can furnish her address. Thanks.
June 4, 2012 - Connie Brisson ... Pam Wagner Sanchez, I remember that well! I was in Kindergarten and Neil Armstrong picked me up and sat me on his lap while he talked to our class. I was actually online just now looking for a news article about it. Was it 1970? I remember the school presented them with golf clubs. Were you in Apollo or Gemini?

August 24, 2011 - Mike Devine - I've received a number of get well wishes from classmates on the website here, thank you. I had some issues with a staph infection and disks in my neck. Damn, if I knew turning 60 would almost kill me I would have skipped it and turned 61. Thanks again.
June 7, 2011 - Bernie Zelitch - A couple of memories triggered here for me.
Jean Maunder, yes I was just thinking about the anti Prom just this week-- thought of you, Lucy Patton and your Yale friends who quoted John Donne. That was the best time, and we got to go to the prom as well because we weren't really iconoclasts at all.
And Mary Knight, that's great getting a doctorate! You brought back memories of Mrs. Floyd kindergarten at the old Newhall St. School. I was said to be a "good rester" and u always had amazing braids.
May 29, 2011 - Mary Knight Perez - I would like to share an accomplishement for someone of my age (lol) I completed my Masters in Nursing in Administration in April of this year and have been accepted into a doctoral program which I will begin in the fall. April 26, 2011 - Pam Wagner Sanchez (1977) - I'm trying to find out if anyone remembers the astronauts who came to visit us at Ridge Hill school when we first opened. I was in 4th grade in 1969 when the school first opened and I remember the astronauts visiting the school. Does anyone else remember this? Pictures?
April 18, 2011 - Mike Devine - I saw a Marathon note, said a guy from Kenya won the Boston Marathon and I thought to myself, how does the guy have time to run the country and the Boston Marathon, but it turns out the guy's name is Geoffrey from Kenya. October 21, 2010 - Ben Kudon - Great reunion. Can't beleive its been 41 years, man you guys must feel old. To whoever monitors this stuff, anyway to get some emails for the people who attended the reunion?
Bud Bassoli - we have email addresses for most of the classmates that are listed on this websites "Classmates" page. If you would like to (try to) get in contact with a classmate, use the "Contact Us" page. Your request for contacting a classmate will be emailed to them and it will be up to that classmates decision to get in contact with you.
October 18, 2010 - AnnMarie DeMaio - The reunion was a blast. It was so good to see all the faces and bring back so many wonderful memories. Can't wait for the next one................. Many thanks to the committee that put all this together...You all did a wonderful job. Now the quiz at the next reunion should be if we remember anything from 2010 LOL LOVED IT..... Great time thanks to the organizers.
Shelley Antonio Sikorsky - We had such a great time at the reunion!! It was wonderful to catch up with old friends and reconnect with high school buddies!! The DJ was great and a bunch of us "closed the place down"!! Thank goodness for ibuprofen!! Thanks so much to the committee for all their work!! If you can use extra hands for next time, pop me an email!
Debbie Weiner Soule - I'm so sorry to have missed the reunion! I loved looking at all the photos -- wow the High School's amazing -- and wish I could have seen all of you. I'm hoping that my schedule is a bit more cooperative when the next gathering is set! With warm good wishes to all -- Debbie
October 17, 2010 - Janet Carrano Crean - The reunion is over and a great time was had by all. We shared many laughs and memories. So in order not to miss the next one, please make sure we have your email address and be sure to tell everyone to be prepared to come in four more years. Thanks for everyone who attended. It was a blast.
Mavis Wildgoose Florio - Thanks to everyone who had a hand in the planning and organizing of the reunion. It must have been a mountain of work. You guys did a marvelous job. Thank You !
Charlene Malard Ruggiero - Just want to thank everyone who organized our reunion - It was great!! I think everyone that attended had a good time. The food was good, the DJ was good and it was great to see classmates again, even if we didn't recognize them. Unfortunately it was difficult to really socialize with everyone in a short timeframe, but it was good. It was very nice to win the "Happy Hour" bag too!! Hopefully we will get an even better response next time.
October 16, 2010 - Ellen Johnson Alberti - I've enjoyed seeing the HHS class of 1969 website. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend this Sat. but hoping that the website can show some photos and info about the actual reunion party this Sat. Have a great time!!
October 2, 2010 - Jean Maunder - Excited to be attending the reunion from SW Washington state where I've lived and worked as a nurse-midwife for the past 20 years. My mother still lives in Hamden, youngest sister in Stamford. Think my sister Martha (class of '70) still has some tickets to the "Anti-prom." Anyone else remember it?
Bud Bassoli - the reunion is just 2 weeks from now, I think it is great that we have classmates coming from Japan (1), California (4), Washington (1), Kansas (2), Oklahoma (1), Pennsylvania (2) and Massachuesettes (1). There still is time to let us know that you want to attend.
September 28, 2010 - Jackie Barham Antunes - I'm so excited to see all of you again. I wish I could take the tour of the "ole" school, but it's my day to work. I can't wait to see you all at the dinner and breakfast. Has anyone heard from Teddy Taylor?
September 25, 2010 - Bob Cassella - It's a small world -- I read Shelly Walter Bernardi's post about settling in Kansas 18 years ago which is exactly what we did...I arrived at Fort Leavenworth in 1991 and retired from the Army in 1993; we've been here ever since. I am looking forward to the reunion.
Shelly Walter Bernardi - Wow, Bob that is really something. I'm not sure how well we may have known each other but it is a shame that someone from Ct. from my school is so close yet so far away. Maybe that could change one day. See you in Oct.
September 21, 2010 - Betsy Ostrom Gray - Ok, I must be under a rock somewhere! Never went into the message board. Surprised to see so many messages. Where has 75% of our class disappeared to?!! I'm surprised to see so many not accounted for. I love the "sobering thought" from Tony ! There is no way we look as old as the class of 1927 would have looked in '69!
Looking forward to seeing everyone whose name I know, but can't remember.
September 18, 2010 - Mike Santillo (class of 1968) - Winner of the Name that Song & Band Quiz
I Can Only Give You Everything - Bramm Rig Set
No Good to Cry - Wildweeds
Black on White - NAIF (North Atlantic Invasion Force)
Again and Again - The Van Dykes a/k/a (Van Dyke 5)
As long as I have You - Shags
Bridge - Love is There
Summer is Over - The Chosen Few-aka The Frozen Chew (Many are Cold but Few are Frozen)
You - The Frontiers (with Jerry Warner on drums - class of 1967)
HEY BUD CAN YOU MAKE THIS A LITTLE HARDER NEXT TIME
September 15, 2010 - Ted Rozsa - I live in Concord MA and have three grown kids (two married, one almost there). I own an income tax preparation service in downtown Boston and just bought a Yamaha motorcycle. Having fun and working hard. Miss the HHS years when so much was happening all around us and life was oh so sweet! Will try to make it to #41 but I have visitors from out of town that weekend.
September 6, 2010 - Peter Cirincione - Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend our reunion. I know that it would be a blast to see old SRR pals, classmates and friends and catch up on the past (who can really believe its been) 41 years. There are teachers (Mr. Jacobs) who I think of regularly and still regard as significant figures in my life. My two kids have just graduated from a high school, BHS, much like HHS. Ciao for now.
September 3, 2010 - Tony Spadaro - Belated thanks to Bud for his kind wishes regarding my recovery from heart surgery. We will not be able to attend the reunion, maybe the NEXT one (Remember, 60 is the new 40......we're just getting started!
Shelly Walter Bernardi - Hey Patty, remember the Yale mixers that we used to go to? Gone are the good ol' days. Can't wait to see you and other familiar faces, or at least I hope they are. Is your house still standing after your smoke alarm went off?
August 31, 2010 - Pat Ingersoll Ostrofsky - John and I met on a blind date. We were introduced to each other by Shelly Walter and her then boyfriend Lou. That was 39 years ago. We have been married for 37 years. Shelly and Al are going to the reunion, traveling all the way from Kansas. I guess we are going to the party too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 30, 2010 - Bud Bassoli - Member of the Reunion Committee - Our last reunion was 10 years ago, and the list of names and information that we had to work with was somewhat outdated. We are trying our best to use the internet directory type websites, search engines, and social networking sites to try and locate classmates. There is no master list available to us. We have had about 120 classmates visit this website and were gracious to provide us with their email addresses. Some gave us referrals. We are trying our best to get in contact with people.
If you know of anyone that is not listed on the Classmates page please give them the information about the reunion. If you would like to help out with the reunion please click on Contact Us and let us know that you are available.
Thanks --- Bud
August 28, 2010 - Bob Dempsey - both dogs are Shaggy Dogs - I know I should know each one but some are not my favorites - #2 is No Good To Cry - Wildweeds (good song) , #4 is one of the best by the Van Dykes - Again and Again (remember Teen Canteen nights there) , # 7 is Summers Love - Chosen Few and # 8 is You by the Frontiners - think I missed the Shags (not sure of the song) and some others - thanks for the work on this.
Answers: Dogs - Wrong. CT Bands - You got 2, 4, 7 & 8 correct. Mike Santillo from the class of 1968 got all of the songs & bands but we want to give the class of '69 a try before we put up Mike's answers. Did you know that Mike was an all state saxaphone player annnnnd that Mike played for a band call Tommy & the Riveras that was the opening act for the Doors on December 9, 1967 at the New Haven Arena. Yes that was the night that Jim Morrison became belligerent, resulting in him being sprayed with mace. Mike please tell us your side of the story.
August 27, 2010 - Gary Moler - Here's an interesting tidbit... in 1969, the Apollo 11 onboard super computer had a huge 64 KB (THAT'S KILO-bytes as in "one thousand", NOT megabytes or gigabytes) hard drive which was harnessed to a blazing 0.043 MHz CPU. It sounds quite formidable. But it's probably not big enough to do the math homework of a third grader today.... or even operate a 99-cent toy made in China for someone even younger. The advances that technology has made are inspiring.
... Just to give you an idea of the immensity of 64 KB (the Apollo 11 onboard computer HD capacity): that's equivalent to a half-page document typed in Word or a thumbnail photo on a web page. Imagine that... "Hey mom and dad, I flew to the moon on a half-page of Word (or its data equivalent) "! Remember those 1.44 MB floppy disks that could hold a few business letters? You've probably thrown them all away. But, wow, you could have flown 22 Apollo round-trip missions on a single floppy disk!!! Source: http://buzzaldrin.com/missions
Heidi Konietzka McColgan - I'm sorry, but I will not be able to attend the reunion. I thank you for all of your work on this, and hope the event is a great success! Thanks for keeping me posted ...
August 25, 2010 - Gary Moler - Fond memories of Mrs. Ogden's English honors... and the plethora of books I've read over the past 41 years... hey, Brenda G., that's a lot of books to discuss. Bring your list!
Cathy Unger Pleines - I won't be able to make the reunion. Have a great time. See you in 9 years????
August 24, 2010 - Sharon Shepard - It's great to see some familiar names (and neighbors) on the message board. I've been in California since 1971, incrementally moving from Southern California to the top of the State in Siskiyou County (near Mt Shasta). I am in charge of all the clinical services for children and adults at the County Mental Health Department.
I am not able to attend the 41 year reunion. I'm sure that everyone who attends will have a great time!
Carol Duari McKee and Kevin McKee - Thanks for keeping everyone informed about the reunion plans. Carol and I were hoping to add to the list of classmate couples attending from California. Our son, Tim, is starting his senior year of high school (do you believe we have a kid in HS at OUR AGE?!) and there's no way we're leaving him home alone!!
We're disappointed that we won't get to see everyone and hang around a bunch of 60 yr olds!!! But we'll be thinking about you all and the efforts you've gone to trying to pull this together. Enjoy the time together, keep in touch, and best of luck (or should I have said best of health?).
August 20, 2010 - Valerie Newton - Just loved the Savin Rock photos, thanx for posting those, that sure brought me back.
August 19, 2010 - Wendi Hines Wilcox -Sorry, I won't be able to attend this year. This will be right in the middle of the 1st semester of school. I am teaching 3 different classes this year. Music, Language Arts and Math. (Elem.) After school each day (and on the weekends) I run a PUG rescue in Central FL. (centralfloridapugrescue.org).. These guys keep me busy 24/7. At the moment I have 8 in the house. Thank goodness they are small guys!! Enjoyed looking at the pictures and traveling back to the "good old days".
August 17, 2010 - Dana Downes - I won't be attaending the 41 year reunion, maybe next time. That is when our 18th Grandchild is due and I don't want to miss it.
August 11, 2010 - Mike Devine - Sal Petrone passed away in the last 6 months or so. He was the Golf Coach, he was the Ski Team sponsor and Math teacher. Always wore a bow tie and Hush Puppies, we called him the "Hawk". A great guy.
August 10, 2010 - Dan Harris - I was captain of the Hamden HS soccer team during my junior (1967-68) and senior (1968-69) years. I did an internet search for our coach, Mr. Valerio Moretti, and found his obituary (see Classmates page > In Memory). He was a really great guy.
August 4, 2010 - Mike Devine - The Savin Rock pictures are awesome. If you check Facebook, you can log on to a "New Haven Arena" page, great pictures there. Does anybody have some great old pictures of Hamden, "The Circle" or any other infamous spots in town.
August 3, 2010 - Carol Paffumi Mandell - A HHS Story: One Saturday in Sacramento CA , I was waiting for the next veterinarian to come in to relieve me at the Vet. ER for the night shift. At 6pm a vet in his 30's arrived & introduced himself as Dr Kittel. He said he graduated from Oklahoma State, but he said he was from CT. I asked: where in CT? Hamden, he said. Yes, he went to Hamden High and even had Mr. Pfeffer for History class as I had! Small small world!
Alan Herman - I enjoyed looking at the savin rock pxs. Still going to Jimmies but not the same. After high school i went down south for a few years for fun in the sun. Now married for 34 years, two sons, and have my own law firm. Funny how life turns out sometimes.
Mike Devine - A HHS Story, one morning on a Trident Submarine deep under the Pacific Ocean the young man driving the boat casually mentioned he played hockey in high school. I asked where, he said in Connecticut, I asked where in Connecticut , he said Hamden. Boy was he shocked when I started to describe Hamden High School to him, and all deep under the Pacific Ocean somewhere.
Mike Devine - Another HHS story. In Honolulu, Hawaii, my boss shows up 15 minutes late one day, she apologizes and casually mentions she ran into a high school classmate she had not seen in 20 years. I asked her where she went to high school and she said Connecticut and I asked where and she said Hamden. Just like onboard my Submarine years earlier, I proceeded to tell her all about Hamden High, boy was she surprised. I believe she was the first woman to attend the Naval Academy.
Tony Julianelle - Another HHS story. Twenty years ago I was finishing a thru hike of the long trail in Vermont. At one of the shelters there was a guy sleeping with a sign on him which basically asked the reader to check on him. He was ok and was thru hiking the appalachian trail; and as you can probably guess was also a grad of HHS.
A sobering thought. When the group from the reunion tours the high school, the high school seniors will view us as we (as h.s. seniors) would have viewed a class from 1927.
Bud Bassoli - Thanks Tony :-\
August 2, 2010 - Lew Wardell - Remembering so many familiar names - hell, I'm glad I can still remember MINE. I've been in law enforcement at Duke University and the city of Durham, NC for years, as well as playing in an R&B and a Dead cover band for the same time. Dissonance, yes?
July 19,2010 - Shelly Walter Bernardi - This is so exciting. I am hoping to come to the reunion with my husband. He was in the Army and we have traveled around the world. Our last duty station was in Kansas and somehow we got stuck here, almost 18 years. I figure there are worse places we could be. Hope to see you all in October. Hi Patty.
Patty Ingersoll Ostrosky - Reminiscing is fun. I enjoyed looking at the photos and seeing familiar faces. Will think about attending the reunion. The 25th reunion was great. Hi Shelly ......... I hope you can make it, I know Kansas is far, but I would love to see you.
July 13, 2010 - Peter Cooper Kupfer - Forty-one years? No, it can't be! Visiting this Web site and seeing the names of former classmates has brought back a lot of memories. I've been living in San Francisco since 1992 and work as a freelance writer and editor. (I changed my name to my father's original name when I moved here.)
June 24, 2010 - Mike Devine - I looked up Green Dragon on Wikipedia, it's not quite what you'd think it is, or maybe it is, I guess it depends.
June 22, 2010 - Paul Rubin - Bumped into this site. Hell, I may come back from Arizona (where I have lived since '73) for it. Mom is still in same house on Harding St. I grew up in. Best wishes to all the other Green Dragons (what, by the way, is a Green Dragon?).
May 30, 2010 - Steve Rosenfield - Stumbled on this web site - these names bring back so many memories!- living in Scottsdale in the winter-Breckenridge in the summer - and still get together with Bob Levine (cousin) and Stu Rosenholtz!
May 23, 2010 - Barbara Cohen Kegeles - Are there any 1969 graduates that are married to each other? Howard Kegeles was my senior boyfriend and we attended the prom together . We split about 6 months after graduation and went on with our lives. 27 years after graduating Hamden High School Class of 1969, we were married and just celebrated our 14th anniversary.
We will be attending all the activities scheduled for the reunion weekend and will be flying in from California.

I remember the movie theatre and years ago Howard Johnson's. When is graduation held now? Our class graduated very late in June.

February 10, 2010 - Bradley Niederhauser - Congratulations to all HHS 1969 Grads who are lucky enough to be still walking around on this great planet.

Retired from the health care field. Living with my husband Rod in Augusta. Love these messages that Jog my memory. The buried cars in the Hamden Plaza are gone, right? (Bud: the cars are gone) ... I remember the movie theatre and years ago Howard Johnson's. When is graduation held now? Our class graduated very late in June.

February 10, 2010 - Bradley Niederhauser - Congratulations to all HHS 1969 Grads who are lucky enough to be still walking around on this great planet. January 2, 2010 - Sharon Beauton Moran - My concern with Columbus Day Weekend is that works only for those local to CT. Anyone from far away might not come to CT for that short weekend. I'll attend whenever it's held-looking forward to seeing as many 'old' friends.
December 15,2009 - Marianne Russo Anastasio - (regarding the reunion date) "Hi Everyone!
