Patti White (January 2023)
Friends,
Since that warm June day in 1969, I have been enjoying a blessed life. In the 70’s, (that’s 1970 not my 70’s) I backpacked the Northwestern part of United States. Spending six consecutive full moons at places so beautiful it is still easy to remember them clearly. I returned home and spent a few years waiting tables and working at riding stables. The highlight of these years being showing my grey mare, Clover on the Sunshine Circuit in Florida. Soon afterwards, I married the love of my life. In the 80’s, we moved to Provincetown, MA and opened a restaurant called Fat and Skinny’s. While on the Cape and because of the restaurant down time during the fall and winter season, I enrolled in Cape Cod Community College. Eventually, returning to CT I continued my quest for teaching certification at SCSU and for the next 27 years, happily taught high school science in North Haven. In 2019, I retired and made a soft entry into the wonderful world of retirement by spending the next school year as a para-professional in North Branford. The next year my husband, Frank, had a health scare and we both decided to really retire from our work worlds. I am happy to report our health is now almost perfect for a couple of youngsters in our seventies. We keep busy and just yesterday, our two-year-old rescue pup, Webb and I passed our first Pet Partner’s evaluation and are now proud to be an official Therapy Dog Team. We hope to share our time and bring smiles to those who have served in the military. As I said, I am enjoying a blessed life. I wish each of you the same in the New Year. |
