Lewis Wardell (before 2022)
I attended Duke University, and aftergraduating I joined the RKO-Stanley Warner Theater chain. I had worked for Bill Decker as the Assistant Manager at the Cinemart while at HHS so I thought, “Why not?” Stayed three years and eventually ran the New England Division, which included the Roger Sherman and theaters in Danbury, Bristol, Waterbury, Bridgeport, Storrs, New London and New Rochelle, NY. I got to book Animal House, the original Star Wars and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The Theater business was pretty shaky in the late 70s, so for some reason I was drawn to policing, and I retired in 2012 after 32 years in law enforcement. I was Chief of Police at Duke University and the senior Planner at the Durham city police department. Unusual and challenging. After retirement, I formed a consulting LLC and worked with a construction company that was bidding on building the new police HQ, which was finished in 2018. My whole life I played music, first on trumpet and later on guitars and spent all my spare time since graduation in bands. I still perform around North Carolina with old Duke classmates. I’m an avowed Deadhead, but I’ve been in bands from Motown big bands to jazz fusion to an Elvis impersonator. Isn’t life rich? |
I'm in a blue shirt playing the 5 string Bass guitar.
